Just a short walk from the campsite, Jimena de la Frontera is a beautiful whitewashed village steeped in history. Wander through its narrow, winding streets, admire traditional Andalusian architecture and discover local cafés and restaurants.
The village is dominated by the impressive Castillo de Jimena, perched high above the town. The castle ruins offer spectacular views across the surrounding countryside and the cork oak forests of Los Alcornocales. It’s a wonderful place to explore at a leisurely pace and experience the authentic character of Andalucía.
Los Alcornocales Natural Park
Step straight into one of Spain’s most spectacular natural landscapes. The park is famous for its extensive cork oak forests, lush valleys and unique canutos – narrow river valleys surrounded by rich vegetation. There are marked walking routes to suit different abilities, as well as opportunities for cycling, wildlife watching and other outdoor adventures.
Algeciras
Head towards the coast and discover Algeciras, one of the main towns of the Campo de Gibraltar. Its location overlooking the Strait of Gibraltar gives it a fascinating maritime character, with a busy port and views towards North Africa on clear days.
